So, I recently started working for a nonprofit blood center. Big organization. I've kinda' been loving my job because, honestly, the benefits and pay are comparatively good when stacked against most employers in the area. I'm starting to notice the metaphorical cracks in the glass though. There's a lot I could mention but don't really need to… Today though, my employer decided to wake me up two hours before I needed to be up for a zoom meeting which consisted of a bunch of irrelevant info that everyone already knew. Communication and cohesiveness are virtually nonexistent in this organization. Part of that zoom meeting was announcing a competition between the east and west sides of the state though. Who can get the most people in for blood drives? The prize for winning? Pizza.
Blood is classified as a drug and it's ridiculously profitable. Each donation brings in thousands of dollars, for free. They want the staff to fight amongst ourselves though, while the upper staff make bank, for pizza…
This is just a reminder that even nonprofits are crooked as hell and don't value their employees anymore.
On a similar topic, don't even get me started on Goodwill, the supposed nonprofit where my mom works. Did you know they're about to double their prices? Anyway, they're one of the worst organizations I've ever had the misfortune of getting an inside look at. Do not donate to those greedy, inhumane bastards.
