20M here. I work for a recruitment agency as a casual worker. Factories hire the agency so they can assign them, workers. Today, I was working as a cleaner in the factory. At around 8:10, the team leader told me to get rid of the factory rubbish at 8:45 and told me to check the mouse traps by then. Checking the mouse traps would usually take me 20 minutes but given the temperament of the team leader, I was afraid he was gonna shout at me if I go do the rubbish before 8;45 so I did the job slowly so I finish by 8:45. Around 8:30 he asked me if i finished and can go do the rubbish now, I said yes but I would have to go get the jacket to keep me warm since i had the flu and had to go outside for the job. He shouted aggressively ” Don't play with me” which meant he was accusing me of faking it and shouted at me. He denied saying it later on when I told him I was gonna home and lodge a complaint. I grew up in an abusive household constantly berated and abused all my childhood and had made a promise to myself i would not tolerated any further abuse from anyone. So I had enough at that point so an argument ensued. I went home and he called his boss telling him the false version of the story. There was a camera there which showed his aggressive body language but doesn't include volume so I can't prove he accused me of lying.
Also worth noting, the week before he yelled at me for ” standing at the wrong place” when I was waiting for him to assign me a job. I argued back and he replied “speak to the supervisor if you have a problem”. He worked at the factory for 10+ years and the supervisor was his friend and I was a newbie casual so i felt powerless and said nothing in return. That same day, because of that incident I was feeling upset so i went and sat down for a coffee while being on the clock. He caught me and kept using that against me.
And let me add the person had a history of being abusive.
So what do I do? Get a medical certificate? Call a lawyer? I really don't want to lose the job or not be allowed to work there because of one abusive person since it really is not fair and it is making me feel really down.
If I am wrong, I'll just take the L and find another job really looking for your opinions.
