So last Thursday I walked out and quit my job because I was working in a horrible unsupportive environment. I know some of you will say I should of waited until they fired me for unemployment. But this is one of the only jobs I’ve ever worked where it was like impossible to get fired at. Some of the people I worked with barely showed up, messed up huge projects etc. and never got fired. Because the company has high turnover, can’t hire people, and basically go by some production is better than none. The other part being that I was told multiple times that I was one of the best workers in my department. Last week I clocked in and out, even when on the day I left. I saw that I had accumulated 12hrs of work. They use Paylocity and I noticed that my paycheck for that week wasn’t posted to the system but I assumed that’s because I wasn’t employed there anymore and would still get my last check. Well it’s Friday and I didn’t get my direct deposit for my 12 hours of work. I know it’s not a lot of money but it’s still money that I’ve earned. Given that I’ve never had this happen when I’ve quit in the past. What steps do I take to get this money that they owe me? Should I email HR first, give them some time, and then file a claim with the dol? I would prefer not to have to go there physically.
TL;DR: Quit my job but didn’t receive my paycheck for the hours I worked my last week. What are my next steps?
