TLDR: Amazon dropped my compensation by 30% even though I already signed the original offer
Hey everyone,
I have a situation that some of you might have been in before and I'm curious of what my options are.
In September 2022, I accepted a SA (solution Architect) offer with Amazon Vancouver by signing on the offer letter and replying to the email thread with my recruiter (apparently that's how it works in Amazon and that's what they told me). Now 3 weeks before my start date ( Jan 2023), Amazon asked me to sign all the legal documents in the pre-onboarding portal, one of the documents is my terms of employment and it included a much more lower salary than the offer letter I originally signed.
I asked Amazon to update the compensation in the term of employment in the pre-onboarding portal to match with the offer that I original signed and my request was refused by Amazon. Amazon mentioned that the offer in the portal is the correct one for my position/level. However, I was not informed about the “updated offer” nor have I signed the new offer.
I feel being taken advantaged and it's very unprofessional for Amazon as they didn't inform me of the actual salary until 3 weeks before the start date 🙁
Did anyone experience something similar before? I want to know what my options are, is it worth talking to lawyer about this? Thank you!
