Am I in the wrong for backing out of a new job on my first day?

For reference: This is for an human resources management / general management position at a very small regional healthcare company. I found this position through a nationally recognizable and reputable white-collar temp agency and this is a legit company. I just graduated college in June, and have maybe 6mo of HR experience and 1yr of indirect supervisor experience. Transportation, travel pay, and food are not covered or reimbursed according to the company. I interviewed at this job on Tuesday, got a second interview, and got a job offer in the same day. I was surprised that I got this job so quickly after I told them I had 0 direct supervising experience and maybe 4yrs of actual work experience. This should’ve been red flag 1. For reference: This is for an human resources management / general management position at a very small regional healthcare company. I just graduated college in June, and have maybe 6mo of HR experience and 1yr of indirect supervisor experience. I interviewed at this job on Tuesday, got a second interview, and got a job offer in the same day. I was surprised that I got this job so quickly after I told them I had 0 direct supervising experience and maybe 4yrs of actual work experience. This should’ve been red flag 1.

Two days after I accepted the job offer (Thursday), they called and told me starting Monday (today) I’d be training for a week at an office in a city 2hrs away, and that they had booked a hotel in the city for me. I told them I needed to account for my pets and would need to get back to them as this was VERY sudden and I could tell they didn’t like that? They offered to have my pet stay with a supervisor and I declined. I mentioned an impending ice storm impeding travel and they told me they could book my hotel for Christmas.

The supervisors I’ve spoken to also mentioned how they drive to various offices throughout the region (2-3hr drives from my home), and it’s implied I’ll be traveling too. I really don’t feel comfortable taking this position when travel is involved as I recently moved to a region where winter is hell. Travel was not mentioned by the temp agency, in the job position details, during any interviews, or the offer extension. I called out today due to the icestorm hitting yesterday and roads being terrible and they really tried to talk me out of it.

I spoke to my supervisor today and she told me this one week is the only time I’ll be traveling except for once a month when I’ll be traveling to a city 3hrs away in another state for ‘day training’. I don’t really feel confident about that because of how they sprung the week trip on me and because anyone I’ve spoken to there have comparable positions to mine and drive regularly.
