So, my kitchens boss/owner wanted to talk outside and told me they didn't have shifts for me next week. He told me the day after Christmas and right before rent was a bad day to fire so he was going to do it next week but thought he would be nice enough to let me know with 4 days notice. I told him it was fine and door dash would cover things till I got a new job. Then I asked him if he didn't have money for me, why did he hire 2 new sous chefs, a new prep, and a new line cook. He just looked at me and said they are cheaper. Why pay someone 20 when they take 14-15? I just laughed and said okay. Then I walked back inside with a smile as I heard the managers yelling about no servers, no host, no line cooks scheduled today or tomorrow on top of no shows. Not to mention the cook next to me quitting on Thursday. Boss came back to ask if I would stay for 2 days a week. I looked at him and said why work for pennies when I need dollars?
