Work place injury, looking for some perspective.

Hi, I am curious to see what you might think of a situation I am currently in. I (F33) hurt my back initially last week Tuesday. I let me employer know and they responded by taking me off my shifts and telling me rest with full pay, no sick time used(salary). I decided not to file a claim last week because I was hoping that with rest/stretching I’d feel better. Well that mostly worked till today when I was back to work. I hurt myself doing the same thing as last week. I decided to open a case with my employer and I have once again been taken off shifts, I assume with pay, as before. They responded quickly without judgement or questions beyond asking what happened. What are some thing I should be on the lookout for or how to protect myself? I don’t want them to turn around…

What are some thing I should be on the lookout for or how to protect myself? I don’t want them to turn around and say I’m not physically able to do the job.

For reference they are using Sedgwick, I am not familiar with them. Also the acute injury happened while lifting a large heavy 40lbs case they provide. It has all the equipment we use in it so it’s essential. I had been doing the job since May with no problems.

The pain is quite severe, not bad enough to go to the ER but I have to use support to use the toilet or sit down/get up. Range of motion is significantly reduced in my back. No previous issues.

Thanks for reading and please let me know if you’ve got any helpful stories or resources.
