Hard work gets you…more hard work…

Broke my back for my company for two years during covid. Was one of the only ones who stayed in office to keep things running while everyone else worked from home. Had emails and recognitions galore about how valuable I was. Come review time….less than 3% raise. Mind you, VA and SS recipients received a 6% increase this year, more than it's been in a decade, and good for them. That's what the government says they had to increase it for those people to just survive. Not the true inflation number, of course, but a baseline by which to judge what I thought would be a target for an increase.

So I work the hardest I ever have in my professional life, work on location so that others don't have to, with the understanding that I'd be taken care of when reviews came. I received the highest rating you can. Less than 3% raise, no bonus, and on top of that, BECAUSE WE LOST SO MANY WORKERS OVER THE LAST YEAR I'VE BEEN TASKED WITH TAKING THEIR WORKLOADS.

FUCK. THAT. SHIT. Hard work ONLY got me more hard work.

Applications have been flying for the last couple days. Getting the fudge out of there. I guess my point is, whatever you're waiting for, stop waiting. Go find something better. Don't go out of your way for any company or corporation. I've adopted the mantra, 'I work for money, if you want loyalty, get a dog.'
