I just started freelancing full-time; please drop advice in the comments.

I am a tarot card reader (my approach isn’t very “witchy”; I use an approach based on the Hero’s Journey and Jung’s writings about the shadow side. Anyway.) and I just recently decided to make freelance a bigger part of my income, cutting back to an as-needed/gig basis at my other jobs. I’ll take any advice, but these are my specific questions: Does anyone else do freelance full-time? What helped your business pick up? What are some good (cheap-to-free) websites I can advertise on or sign up with? How necessary is having my own website, or should I focus more on social media presence? What might help me stay organized and determine realistic deadlines for myself? (I have the ADHD) How much of your income do you re-invest in advertising, etc.? What social media are essential to have a presence on, and which ones are a waste of time? If…

If you would like an idea of what I’ve been doing so far:

I have been printing little flyers and hanging them up around town; I give couples’ readings as well as one-on-one, so I post them at popular date locations, an adult novelties shop, a lingerie shop, you get the idea. I also do workshops with artists (this is both visual and performance art, as well as writers and composers) about how to use tarot cards as a creative tool, so I also post at art supply shops, places that host live music, my local glassblowing studio, etc. I do different flyers to relate to the different niches (I’ll post some examples on my own page if anyone wants to see)

I also LOVE reading at parties and events and would love to lean more towards those kinds of gigs rather than one-on-one readings, but I’m not sure how to go about that. I would also like to put more attention and focus into teaching workshops, but my old venue isn’t accessible anymore after the panoramic and I’ve never hosted an online workshop before, so I am not sure where to start on that, either.

I have also advertised at new-age hippie places like my local herb supply and some yoga studios, as well as just generally well-traveled places like coffee shops and the co-op.

Thanks!
