Next step after ADA reasonable accommodation was denied to continue WFH?

Hi all, was hoping for any advice or help. I’m in MA if that helps. I am diagnosed with C-PTSD, depression, and anxiety. I went through a traumatic event last June & July that worsened my condition. I have been with this company for almost 2 years and was hired working from home, not as in I would permanently work remote but it was the beginning of the pandemic and that’s how my role started. I currently see a psychologist for my condition and she submitted an ADA reasonable accommodation request form for me to continue to work from home because my condition cannot be anticipated, the longevity of my episodes are uncertain, and I need to be in a safe home environment when they come about.

I’ve told both HR and my psychologist that I don’t plan on this being a forever thing, but only temporary until I’ve made more progress with my psychologist.

The request was denied for no other reason than it is required my team is in the office. I’ve performed this job for almost 2 years at home, and both my reviews I have exceeded expectations and never received any write ups or verbal warnings, etc.

I don’t know if I can appeal it or what they process would even look like, if anyone has any advice that would be greatly appreciated.

HR suggested taking a leave of absence but I can perform the job duties just fine working from home and don’t want to leave my team to pick up my slack.

Thank you to anyone who has any advice or suggestions.
