interviewed for a position today and got cussed out…

I've been with my company for enough time to keep myself competitive and shop around in the industry. I was offered an interview early this morning and the manager tested my knowledge and skills. He was impressed. He was impressed so much he told me to show up 7am Monday and winked at me as if it was a joke, as I told him “change is scary, I need at least a week to think.” There were red flags, we work with chemicals and they have a range (eg 1-2 fl oz per gallon) Your ultimate goal is to use as little chemical as possible to get the job done correctly. This manager fills up tanks and you put whatever he wants down, at a rate you do not know, and has you spray these chemicals in suburban environments. I've been with my company for enough time to keep myself competitive and shop around in the industry. I was offered an interview early this morning and the manager tested my knowledge and skills. He was impressed. He was impressed so much he told me to show up 7am Monday and winked at me as if it was a joke, as I told him “change is scary, I need at least a week to think.”

There were red flags, we work with chemicals and they have a range (eg 1-2 fl oz per gallon) Your ultimate goal is to use as little chemical as possible to get the job done correctly. This manager fills up tanks and you put whatever he wants down, at a rate you do not know, and has you spray these chemicals in suburban environments. I make $55000 a year, working for him I might make 40,000.

I called and told him I thought about it, and what worries me is I don't have the freedom to minimize chemical output to be responsible to the environment and thanked him for his time, and apologized it wouldn't work for me.

He started ripping into me saying I won't make money at the company I'm at, that he explained I can tweak things and I totally didn't understand a word he said. He proceeded to reiterate what he said, only for me to be reminded I would have no control of the chemical output. After that, I never had another word. He lectured me, said I was “a fucking idiot,” “can't comprehend a damn thing,” “you don't understand how this fucking industry operates,” “you've been a waste of my fucking time” “if you change your mind give me a fucking call.”

Tldr;

Interviewed, told him I can't work under the freedom to adjust chemical outputs, and he cussed me out and berated me.
