So yeah, was working a terrible job with no work life balance but the one perk was that it was 100% wfh. Stress and burnout of the job led me to expressing my discontent through Facebook. Had a few friends reach out and say come work with me, it’s great etc etc.
My one requirement: it must be a remote position as I absolutely do not want to go into an office again. My friend goes it’s 100% remote except I’ll probably have you guys come in once a month for team-building. Fine. That’s acceptable.
Applied and was hired.
2 months in, Today blind sided and told that even though we’re hybrid workers were expected to at least come in once a week. Which again surprised but okay once a week isn’t too bad. It’s not what I wanted but whatever it’s not that bad. Then right out of their mouth comes even though you’re only required to work one day a week I want you in Tuesday-Thursday. I am livid. So I keep my mouth shut and I schedule some time with management after the meeting.
Where I mention that I specifically asked if I would need to work in the office and was told no no you’re fine. Now it’s all let’s get back to the office bullshit. I don’t care if you’re paying for an office. Are you going to pay for my gas? The daycare that I need to now pay for? Absolutely livid. Two months in and now I have to start looking for a new job and I’m going to have to explain to all potential employers that I was promised that this job was remote only to discover 2 months within the job they lied!
Unbelievable. This is why you get everything in writing kids. Don’t let these companies fk you. I let my guard down this time won’t happen again.
TLDR- company lied about position being full wfh and I’m mad and now looking for a new job.
