How would you feel about a system where every worker in a company owns equity, there are no rent seekers, and nobody is merely an employee?

Would owning part of the company and being responsible/entitled to its failure/success change your outlook on work? Can a democratic company that doesn’t exploit its employees compete in this world, or even function properly?
