Hello. Short disclaimer. I am from Europe and get money for up to 1 year if i lose my job so I dint care about the consequences.
In 2008 I was wirking in a travel agency as accountant. I had 1 colleague in Accounting.
Company boss decided to buy a knew software Programm we and ither departments asjed uf we could test before she finally buys it.
No i think i can maje a decision like that i am the boss.
She bought it. It was good for the Sales department.
Sales depwas more like Customer support becuase they ddint really go out and sold but answered calls and mails product sold itself.
Prgramm was implemented. Total nightmare fot ud. We manually had to put in the systen if the customer paid and how much. No automated with iur accounting software becuase to expensive. Same with shipping department.
So mire work. We talked to Boss. She said well that's a shame but the sales team likes it and lets them work better. We said well thas nice but we take longer. Boss with straight face. Well i dint care the sales team are the ones earing your salaries so go back and work.
During lunch my colleague and the lady from shipping desided to be sick for a few days.
Next day we calked in sick for a week.
Sales team was flooded with calles from angry customers who paid but didn't receive their stuff.
Sales team was making g over time and was not happy. They compa y didntmake lots of money that week.
When we came back biss talked to us and whined that the sales team had so much to do and that we should plan our sicktime better next time.
That was what she learned from that week. Really.
I quite a few months later and when she asked why i tokd her brcuase of the stuoid program she bought. I also wrote that to the owners.
