Antiwork

I’m doing a 9h+ day unpaid internship, my manager wants me to stop doing my (paid) part-time job.

Context: I work for a company 9 hours a day (it’s 8 hours + 30 mins lunch break + 30 mins overtime). My hours change daily, sometimes I start at 8, sometimes 9 or 10. I have an hour commute into work, so overall I’m out of the house 11 hours a day. When I get back home, I teach English online for a couple of hours, then do university work, eat a ready-meal, then sleep. On the weekends I catch up with all my university work. I have absolutely no life outside of work but I couldn’t pay rent if it weren’t for my (paid) part-time job. The problem is that when I do overtime, I obviously am not scheduled for that. And on a few occasions it’s made me late for my part time job and I’ve lost two customers now. I’ve not told work this (they wouldn’t…

I’ve not told work this (they wouldn’t care a bit) but I do rush out of work whenever I’m done with my overtime for the day and they’ve complained to me that I seem in too much of a hurry to leave work and I need to rethink my priorities. I obviously cannot afford to stop teaching English. If that was an option I’d have already stopped. I’ve had no free time for months (this internship is Jan-June) and have become overweight because I have no time to exercise, my mental health is in bits, and I’m absolutely broke. Not to mention the exhaustion from working in a language that’s not my native one. Anyone got any experience with stuff like this? What shall I tell my work?

Edit: I cannot quit unfortunately as I need to do this for university and also experience. It’s a ‘pflichtpraktikum’
