Update to Previous post. https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/t4cyz2/was_offered_a_new_position_but_i_turned_it_down/
I took some time off to think about this situation. My team and boss were texting me during this time off. My team agreed with me, boss was begging me not to quit and talk to the VP.
So Today I had an online meeting with VP and HR. It was explained to me while I'm more than capable of doing the new job, there was one issue, while it had a higher level in the posting (not management). Because I don't have a University Degree I don't qualify for that level. My words were WTF? I'm stuck at this level and salary if I choose to remain here? To which both went quiet for a few seconds then the HR person started listing the benefits of working there (To be honest some are good). To which I stopped him and said “Thank you for the opportunity but since I maxed out here it's time I move on”.
Now the VP jumps in with the classic phrase “The grass is not always green on the other side” I replied “On this side the grass is quite dead”. He made a smirk when I said that. We Said goodbye and 30 mins later my boss called me. He's a nice guy, asked me if that was my final decision, I said yeah. He said he was disappointed that first I wanted to leave the team now I'm leaving the company. I told while I value his friendship I'm here for the money. He said he understands. So it's official they have my 2 week notice.
Next steps for me? I have a part-time Side contract with a friend that will keep me a float. But I'm gonna take a vacation then look for contract work. Full Time does not work for me with all these rules.
