My Company Is Arguing That Working From Home Is Not Sustainable

I call bullshit on a company saying that “working from home is not sustainable. That it would hurt the company culture in the long run. To be a functional team we need to be working together and that is only strengthen when we are together…Also we won’t be able to develop new employees especially younger folks who need guidance in their career.” We have been working remotely for two years and profits are at record highs. Half the department is in NYC and the other is in San Francisco. My manager is in California and his manager is in London so why hasn’t that been a problem? Also aren’t we trying to reduce our carbon footprint? Where is the benefit for me to be at the office when it is in the open with no privacy and a lot of talking. I am on conference calls so where does it matter where I work. On top of that I would have to pay for transportation (car then train then subway) and at the cafeteria.

I know there are a ton of more reasons why working from home is sustainable. Would love to hear other reasons why.
