I’ve been the operations lead for my department for about 2.5 years now, with the company for a total of 4 years. Decent enough pay. Never had a problem paying the bills. But I couldn’t take it anymore. The bureaucracy, every two months corporate has some new process to implement. Management is incompetent and I’m always stuck being the only one to stand up for associates, solve problems, and put out the fires nobody else can. 80% of the job was bullshit and an absolute waste of time. Tired of driving an hour away, tired of 40h a week. Tired of being tired, over and over and over. So, I scheduled to use all my PTO, take a couple weeks off, and now I’m starting my own business. I’m ready to work for myself and not be constantly wiped out. To hell with the corporate job. That job will burn without me but I don’t care anymore.
