A little context I work for a conservation district and we are a combination of county/state employees. about 3years before I started they got “temporarily” moved to a basement… we are still here. I also happen to live less than 5 min from the office.
So anyway this week and next we have a bunch of zoom classes for trainings and our manager won’t let us watch them from home. So I come in Monday not feeling well and ask if I could just watch them from home and my manager says no what’s the difference between watching them from home and here. As I glance around our concert basement w no ceiling tiles and over to my desk which is under the waste water pipe so I hear every flush… um there’s a lot but for starters windows and heat are what comes to mind. Long story short I wasn’t allowed to go home bc it’s really important to the manger that we are all here and it makes us work better in her mind:/ meanwhile I spent all of Monday in my fleece lined pants, winter hat, sweatshirt, and wool blanket huddled around my space heater just so we can maintain an efficient work environment. Oh also you get 1 vacation day per 70 working days your first 2 years here and they wonder why they have such a high turnover rate blaming it on that “no one wants to work anymore”
