I work for a big name grocery chain in the pharmacy. I kick ass at my job and I'm a hard worker. I also suffer from migraines. Anywhere from 0-4 in a month. Now if you haven't had a migraine before, let me make it clear that they are not simply headaches. They can come with a plethora of other neurological and somatic symptoms. I particularly go blind in one eye for at least 30 minutes, can't hardly talk through the several nausea, and experience weakness, numbness, and mental confusion. So obviously, not fit to handle people's medications. That's not to mention the actual pain.
So I've been getting migraines while at work and usually end up leaving early. Last week I ended up in the ER. I understand and empathize with the inconvenience of someone leaving early but I quite literally cannot help it. I'm on both preventative and abortive medications but they don't make them go away completely. Now my manager is talking to everyone but me about how unreliable I am, as if this is some character flaw. It's discrimination.
The only thing keeping me from quitting is the hope she'll be dumb enough to fire me and I can sue the crap out of the company.
