I work for a cleaning company, they are usually always short staffed due to how poorly run the business is. They will say you can work part time if you want/need but really expect you to work 10+ hrs daily. I’ve constantly tried to make it clear that I have to help watch my 7 yr old step son in the afternoons on Wednesday’s and Thursdays. And that I also schedule drs appointments on those days. They have never listened. I always get texted being told I am working in the afternoon on those days. Despite how many times I say I can’t.
The company is run off the backs of two sisters, both are ill in some way. One, is always there driving everyone place to place, really running things, and the other, is always out for a number of reasons. Her most recent issues have been going to the hospital repeatedly for smoking weed, and having allergic reactions to it.
She hasn’t worked all of 10 hrs in the 4 months I’ve been there. Today she posted a looking for help ad on Facebook conveniently the day after I put my foot down for another time about not working in the afternoon on said days.
In this post she said “this is not a job where you can make up your own hours and choose when to come in and when to not” and I just felt like it was really petty, and just rude… I didn’t know having busy days, and listed availability was a privilege.
I just recently found out that the sister who posted that, despite having not gone to work in months is still putting down hours as if she has been working, and getting paid for free.
I’m nearly fed up with this job, but it’s the only thing paying my bills right now. And I’m having trouble finding anything that will work with me but god do I wish I could just blast their whole company on Facebook.
They constantly let active addicts work high. And one sister even left for vacation without telling them what the codes and keys were to the buildings, and let one of them drive on an expired license, high. We were swerving in and out of traffic..
During this vacation they also let someone covid positive come to work, without asking anyone if they even minded being exposed to covid, and I figured it would be a no brained that they, or at least I wouldn’t. and I nearly quit.
Got covid the next week, and when they texted me asking me Angrily, asking why I didn’t come in, I told them for a second time, I got covid, and they changed their tune. As if it was brand new information.
The equipment they use is falling apart, in need of repairs constantly and it’s never taken care of.
Most new people they hire don’t stay for long because they realize just like I do how crappily it’s run.
I just wanted a place to talk my shit, so I could move on. Thanks for listening.
