One example I've seen just this week is this news story on CNBC:
Tom Brady cut his retirement short. If other retirees take his cue, it may reduce the labor shortage
The other being the infamous Variety interview with Kim K and family:
Kim Kardashian Still Getting Dragged For “Get Your F*cking Ass Up And Work” Advice To Women In Business
Now, I'm no conspiracy theorist but this comes off to me as a sort of concerted effort on the part of corporate media. And I'm sure there are more examples than just these two.
“Look at these brave celebrities that you respect and idolize. They're doing their part to combat the worker shortage! It's time for you peons to do the same!”
All while comfortably glossing over the fact that both Tom Brady and Kim K have the career of their fucking dreams, aren't grossly underpaid, and aren't treated like literal dogshit in an office, kitchen, warehouse, or store every day.
Do they really think this is going to work? Do they REALLY believe that this won't cause working people to grow even more embittered than they already are?
Just something that's been gnawing at me lately. Wondering if anyone else felt the same way about it.
