My kid summed up why the heck does anyone work so hard.

My kid asked me tonight if we would be able to afford her birthday party because she overheard me and a friend talking about he expensive things are getting. And how stretched thin money is. I said, yes, Of course honey! Of course, always.

Mom where does all your money from your job you work so hard at go.

Well I stated. We have to pay rent to live in our house, and pay bills to turn on the lights and to have water. We have to buy food to eat, things like that.

She looked at me. And this smart 8yr old goes.

It makes no sense we(she said we haha cute) get paid any money at all if the moment we get it, whoever gives it to us is just gonna take it back away.

Why does water cost money when it's outside? Why does our house cost money, if it would just be empty without people in it? Don't they want people in houses? It would be silly if they were empty and people slept outside.

And to that I have to say. The kids got a point.
