Looking at you, Robert Half in Ottawa, Canada.
Edit: Not sure if this is allowed but here's a screenshot for proof. https://imgur.com/gallery/al97t1H
As I'm graduating soon, I've started to (casually) look for remote work. I noticed something interesting in a job listing today. There is an executive assistant position for Robert Half listed under remote jobs. The first line of the ad was “are you tired of remote work?” and went on to say the position is located in Ottawa. This is so scummy and dishonest. Why list your non-remote, in-office position in “remote work”?
Unfortunately, that's not even the worst part. They're offering $65,000 CAD per year for a direct executive assistant to the CEO (M. Keith Waddell), who makes over $2 Million Dollars PER YEAR. The average rent in Ottawa right now for a one bedroom is ~$1620, so you'd be spending a third of your salary just for housing. Nice to know M. Keith Waddell got rich by being cheap. Stuff like this makes me think I've died and gone to hell.
As an added side note: Screw TD bank too. A job listing required applicants to reside in the Greater Vancouver Area specifically (not even the province of BC, which I would understand for tax/wage purposes), which says to me they'll hire you remote and then make you work in an office sometime soon. This job listing said “think like a customer, act like an owner.” For a minimum wage position. My dude I will act like an owner when you pay me like one. Bye.
