I just got this job a week ago and they sent over a schedule saying I will work Monday-Friday and be on call every weekend . I asked for clarification on what on call meant and they said I will be given a company phone and if any my associates call out or if there is a problem in my program on the weekend it is my responsibility to go over there. I asked if there is another person to alternate this responsibility with because surely they don’t expect me to just put my life on hold every weekend and their response was no but we can possibly discuss this in the future. I’m so fucking frustrated. I need this job I haven’t been able to land a job in months and it’s starting to weigh on me but I know this job is already trying to take advantage of me and it’s only been a week. I feel so helpless at this point.
TLDR: My new job expects me to work Monday-Friday and be on call every weekend for the unseeable future and I kinda don’t have a choice but to comply right now.
