I've fuckin had it man, I'm literally trying to apply for a god damn seasonal warehouse position for a soda company. One of the largest companies in the god damn WORLD.
They list the job on third party sites, tell you to go to their official hiring website, and then give you the typical “copy and paste each line of your resume into our stupid bullshit browser” fine. I've done this a million fucking times now.
Surprise! They REQUIRE an educational institution to be listed – fine, no problem I got my high school diploma through online learning at legitimate institution.
NOPE. Not listed. Okay, I'll just lie a little and put my high school that's been around since the 50's for sure they'll have that listed and I won't be totally lying – NOPE, in fact, they don't list any high schools in my country! Hell, they don't even have a “no school” option. I could pick from any university in India or Philippines, but god forbid they list any of the schools in Canada, where the job I'm applying for is!
Sure sure you might say “but they only list post secondary” and that would be okay if it didn't stop you from applying for a job that's literal only school requirement is “high school diploma or equivalent”
It's stupid, it's a small detail, I could just pick a random fun sounding school and clarify later if I get an interview and it comes up, BUT IT SHOULDN'T EVEN BE A PROBLEM. Like I just raged and deleted my fucking account (why, WHY DO I NEED TO MAKE AN ACCOUNT TO STACK A PALLET FULL OF SODA?!) so fuck it.
They lose out on a dude with damn near a decade of solid warehouse and managing experience who can lift 75kg all day for fucking fun. A company worth more than the GDP of like 50 fuckin countries can't even make a functional web application page.
I probably wouldn't be so pissed but after applying to a hundred entry level jobs and going through these god damn hoops every time, it's about to fuckin end me. Been putting rent and bills on a line of credit for months and I can't even get a call back from McDonalds (who's online application is a whole other rant for another day)
TL;DR? Fuck online applications. Oh, and pardon my language.
