Joining this subreddit after two jobs consecutively ghosted me.

I’ve found myself in an incredibly frustrating situation after not one but two jobs have ghosted me towards the end of lengthy interview processes. After multiple weeks of interviews with both companies and even an in-person interview in which I had to take off half a day of work from my current job to appear at(across town from me in a $6 a gallon state), I have seemingly been cut off from all communication with the companies and interviewers.

On both occasions, after being told I would be contacted about the decision at the “end of the week” I never heard anything. After multiple attempts to reach out for a response, or just a confirmation that I did not get the job, I was simply ignored.

Even more upsetting is that both proceeded extremely well , with a lot of communication back and forth, and was persistently told that I was, in their eyes, a perfect fit. The CEO (who would be my direct boss for one) even told me to “tell my people I got the job.”

I’m just so defeated and don’t see how employers can expect workers to have any respect for their jobs when they can treat people this way.
