I was threatened to be fired, even though I don’t work there anymore

Like the title says. I was working as a freelance software engineer, a d my contract ended a few days ago, and was not renewed, which is actually great for me. Yesterday I receive a call from my ex boss, here's how the conversation went, verbatim : Him : “Hi, how are you ? Listen I assigned some tasks for you this morning, I need you to finish them for tonight we have a big client coming tomorrow” (At this point I did log in to check the task, and they would take at minimum 6 hours each, without accounting for bugs or unexpected issues) Me : “Sorry, I don't know why you're asking me but you should be asking someone else” (He interrupted me) Him : “I was'nt asking, either it's done today, or you're gone” (At this point I realized he clearly forgot my contract had ended) Me…

Like the title says.

I was working as a freelance software engineer, a d my contract ended a few days ago, and was not renewed, which is actually great for me.

Yesterday I receive a call from my ex boss, here's how the conversation went, verbatim :

Him : “Hi, how are you ? Listen I assigned some tasks for you this morning, I need you to finish them for tonight we have a big client coming tomorrow”

(At this point I did log in to check the task, and they would take at minimum 6 hours each, without accounting for bugs or unexpected issues)

Me : “Sorry, I don't know why you're asking me but you should be asking someone else”

(He interrupted me)

Him : “I was'nt asking, either it's done today, or you're gone”

(At this point I realized he clearly forgot my contract had ended)

Me : “My contract already ended, in fact it ended at the end of last week”

Him : “Oh, do you think you could still do the tasks anyway ?”

Me : “No, I don't, goodbye”

Now, it's a pretty tame exchange compared I've seen on this sub, but the whole thing was hilarious to me (probably due to the fact this project was one of the most stressful things I've ever worked on).

I also find it hilarious that they didn't know when my contract was ending, even tho I was their only software engineer, and the whole project depended on me.

I probably could have made some good money by doing the tasks and charging a premium, but no money in the world could convince me to spend 1 more minute on that project.
