My boss of 7 years never let me take a lunch because it could “risk patient care.” I was told it's a “working lunch” = must stay at my computer, but “no food allowed at the computer”…
Boss was budgeted to staff 20hr/wk but never ONCE saw her in 7 years staff or help out when we were dangerously low staffed, especially in winter months. Apparently “risk patient care” only applied to me not being able to take a lunch, not her staffing like she's supposed to. Besides missing lunchbreaks, there were so many stupid things done/said over the years.
I got tired of getting screwed over and listening to her goof off in her office. By industry standards, I was doing the work of 3 FTEs. I told her on my way out nobody is going to tolerate these work conditions. She said “I'll hire someone to replace you it'll be fine.” 6 months later, she says “it's weird, I had to hire 2 people to replace you, and we're always behind. I don't know what happened.” She was let go shortly after.
I'm in a new job really enjoying it. The problem is, old boss got hired at my place to project manage, for PROJECTS I HANDLED AT THE OLD JOB. Maybe she took credit for my work to land a new job.
NOW, THE BEST PART. I'm being asked to do the projects she was hired for. I said no, those tasks are not in my job description. I was told “this project is everybody's job.” And I said nope, I read her job description and you guys already explained to me what that position entails. She was hired for that job, she needs to do it. Now they're asking me to be the “facilitator” and “help” her to the job she was hired to do.
So what do I do? If I do her job, her 200K/yr career of incompetence continues on, while she is credited with my work. If I don't do her job, I run the risk of not being a “team player”
