Anyone else have gone through being hired, but only given one shift per week?

So I got hired at a new job and everyone there mentioned they have at least two to three jobs all at the same time, I thought they just needed more money for their situations since that's how it usually is, but I noticed something off with the schedule, people were only being scheduled one to two days per week, wouldn't it be common sense to just give the current workers more hours instead of hiring people for one day of the week? Has this happened to anyone else? I mean, you'd think the manager would just give his already minimal amount of hours to his current workers, but I guess not. I left that job and found another one because obviously nobody can live off of four hours of work a week. Tbh that manager was very, very strict and rude, if you even did 0.001% of something your…
