My previous boss was completely out of touch with reality

A little insight on the situation: I used to work for a communications company that fixed cell sites for Verizon, which included building towers, fixing towers, inspecting them, updating equipment on said towers, troubleshooting, the list goes on. I will not shame him for not being a hard worker because he was and honestly was one of the hardest working bosses I knew considering he everything on the towers right beside us. The story goes like this.. so, one day there was him, a coworker, and me sitting in his shop. He decided to sell his 3000gt and was thinking about making another purchase on some other car, or maybe upgrading his truck, or some shit. Then we all started saying what we would buy if we had the means, and I said a supra. He didn't know the cost of a supra at the time and then proceeded to…

A little insight on the situation:

I used to work for a communications company that fixed cell sites for Verizon, which included building towers, fixing towers, inspecting them, updating equipment on said towers, troubleshooting, the list goes on.

He didn't know the cost of a supra at the time and then proceeded to look into it and was astounded that a nice one is 50-70k depending. So, he immediately blew it up as ridiculous and that he would never spend money on a car like that and how I was an idiot for wanting one. A couple days go by and he's really been doing his research on the car and found out just what they're capable of and decided it was actually a cool idea instead of stupid. He proceeds to tell me that if I want one to just go buy one that 50k for a decent one isn't even that bad. He paid me 18 an hour to do jobs that other tower companies would have 3 people on a tower for.. and what I mean by that, for example, is me carrying whip antennas that can range from 5ft-20ft+ in height up a 250ft tower myself, taking the old one out of its mount, and solo hanging the new 25ft antenna by myself. This was actually one of the way easier tasks I had to do myself but that was a common one. This man expected someone who was drastically underpaid, to buy a 50k car while living on my own off of $18/hr. He then decides to buy one. He went through the entire process to get a loan for a 65k supra, had the 65k check in hand, and then the guy selling the car bailed on him. I have decided I no longer want a supra because of him. Just figured I'd share an experience on how detached from reality some bosses can actually be, since most people don't hang out with their bosses who make 200k+ per year.
