Background: I do not currently have a vehicle. I carpool with a coworker who works the same shifts as I do. This coworker has several medical issues.
Today: My coworker needed to leave early because he was not feeling well. I informed my floor manager that I needed to leave as well, as coworker was my ride and all my things were in his vehicle (note that I am not allowed to bring a purse into my store, they say it makes it too easy for us to steal.) I got some major attitude and then was called into the office.
The conversation (after some bullshit about me calling in a couple times previously… I have long haul Covid and the bills to prove it…)
Floor manager (FM): So, you need to stay. Coworker is sick but you're not. I just asked and there are three people willing to give you a ride home after work.
Me: I'm not comfortable with that for reasons I don't wish to discuss (anxiety, she doesn't need to f-ing know that, and I don't want all my stuff in someone else's vehicle all day)
FM: Well you can talk to upper management if you're not comfortable.
Me: No, I'm not talking about it with any of you.
FM: You need to stay, we need you
Me: What if I leave?
FM: There is no, “what if.”
Um……………
I make $14 an hour.
Yeah, I fucking quit.
