the worst part about the job market is the way higher ups suppress the growth of their employees

Meaning the people who should be in management positions are often smear campaigned and made out to not be managers. Me for example, I should be a manager at any restaurant because I'm willing to do what's best for everyone even if it's against the rules. But I've debatably never been given the opportunity to even be a cook, always a dishwasher. When I ask managers to train me in management for obvious reasons they say I have to prove myself which is their way of suppressing my room for growth. It's a very controlling environment.
