Great show, if you haven’t seen it. Effectively imagine a separation in memory between your work and personal selves.
For me it’s less for the fact that I want to disconnect from a troubled personal reality as much as it is that I want to disconnect my brain from the stresses of work so that I can enjoy a wonderful personal life. My job sometimes causes such mental load that I am finding it harder and harder to separate my mind from my job when it comes to spending time outside of work. This has become distressing when I find myself sitting down to a lovely dinner with my wonderful family and my mind can’t separate from work.
I don’t need advice to meditate, etc. etc. I’m just wondering how much others feel this way. Work — no matter the level or industry — seems to be sapping either our physical and / or mental energies more and more, and I really hate it. We shouldn’t be living for our jobs, but that is exactly what they’re driving: Your life revolves around your work and any “free time” is what’s reserved for what should actually be the most important part of life, which is finding joy through family, social lives, and hobbies.
