I took a job in late February and although I've had some bad days when I first started now that I've got the hang of the job I like working there.
But I get so stressed when the manager is working during my shift.
When someone makes a mistake and the manager isn't there it's treated as more of a don't worry just fix it quick but when the manager is there u get called to the back in front of the customers or sometimes he just comes up to while ur working and starts whispering to you about not doing a good job. – There's been a time when he whispered to me while I was working and then proceeded to hold me back 20mins after my shift for not telling him about a problem that he had already fixed himself.-
He always wants everything done his way even if it's not the easiest way and when giving feedback he always contradicts himself. e.g. complaining I'm too slow when I'm still training and then when I point that out to him saying that he actually doesn't care that I'm slow and something else is the problem.
I think the problem mainly started when I made a mistake when serving breakfast on my 3rd shift and I started panicking because he was watching me, but instead of coming over and telling how to fix it he just watched pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed.
to be fair he's not a completely unhelpful manager he actually does serve customers like everyone else it's just when he makes a mistake like dropping food it's not a big deal if we do it it's a 15 min lecture about waste.
I'm already planning on getting a new job during the summer holidays when more positions start opening up but i need advice on how to deal with my manager for the 2 months until then.
