I work two jobs at the moment – one is a minimum wage job on weekdays only. My other job is slightly better paying, on weekends only.
My weekend job offered me a raise to start working there full-time. So, I accepted, and sent my weekday job my two week notice just to be considerate. This was a few days ago, and they haven’t even given me a response. Also, for my new schedule, they gave me noticeably less hours.
If they can’t take twenty seconds to acknowledge my message, should I really give them the time and show up to my scheduled shifts? My general manager never responds to my messages, and has never started a single conversation with me. My department manager also has never started a single conversation with me, in fact I practically had to introduce myself to her. The only time I remember my department manager deliberately talking to me was to confront me about the fact that $10 was missing from the cash drawer (no, I did not steal the $10).
I know that two week notices are usually for referencing, but I would never use this job as a reference regardless, as I have only worked there a couple months. I would also never return to this job in the future.
But, it does seem like a scummy move to not show up to my shifts without saying anything. Should I just suck it up and push through the 2 weeks? Should I send another message saying that I won’t be showing up to my shifts? Or should I just ghost them?
Thank you for reading.
