I am on duty for the weekend for my job. I am supposed to respond to calls dealing with noise complaints, lockouts, emergency maintenance issues, or anything else that may occur. I am on call from Friday night to Monday morning. I just received a call at 12 am that there was a flood in one building. I was directed to meet someone from a safety organization at the building. The details were vague so I figured I would find out when I got there. I met the safety employee and we started to search the building. We looked through an entire building without finding a flood and decided to check back with the original caller to get more information. The safety employee was told the call was a prank from one of their coworkers in safety. The safety employees are required to work throughout the night while I am simply on call and not required to stay up all night. I was dragged into a false situation in the middle of the night all for a prank on someone else. This is just one of many complaints I have with this job and specifically with the safety organization. I only have six weeks left in this job but I am considering quitting sooner. I have already contacted my employer and we will deal with the situation tomorrow and have it handled. I just needed somewhere to rant.
