salary bullshit

To start I work at a well know fast-food chain. we are a franchise, we own half a dozen stores in our region, I completed a class at our corporate HQ to become a General Manager. After a month of not telling me how much I am making, I have just been lowballed a salary of ≈$41,500. Right now I make ≈$38,480($18.50hrly). For only a $3000 yearly increase I will have to work 45+ hours. For approx $17.73 for the base 45 hrs a day plus i have to work as needed without additional pay.

Their reasoning is we are backup GMs and we are being developed so they don't want us to make as much as their GMs that run their stores, which I perfectly understand. Yet my GM does absolutely nothing and they know this.

With the increase in responsibility; dedication to keeping our times down; in our company I'm #2 with my times most often when I work. As well as my energy and dedication are being praised.

I told them for now it's fine. I do want at least $44,000 a year. That's less than the range they said for their GMs It's approx $18.80 an hour without overtime pay at least 45 hours a week, plus time for meetings and training on certain areas they haven’t covered with me yet.

Does this seem fair? I don’t think all this responsibility is worth only a $3,000 increase to my pay
