I’m a data analyst and even though I’ve only been in the industry for six months I’ve been getting a lot of interview offers from recruiters as of the past couple of weeks. Im not even actively looking for a new job though I’m always open to jumping ship for a much better opportunity.
Being contacted by recruiters and having so many interviews lined up is completely new to me though. I still remember when I graduated from high school in 2014 and it was literally impossible for me to get even a job at McDonald’s without any kind of experience. I also remember around that time I had an interview for a retail job at a Torrid where they rejected me basically just because I wasn’t a fashion expert….and that job only wanted to pay $8.50/hr. I wasn’t the only one either, one person I graduated with filled out over a hundred job applications just to finally get a crappy job waiting tables at a Waffle House.
I remember the days where I would waste time filling out job applications with stupid cringy personality tests in the hopes that maybe I would get a callback. I remember the rare times when I would get an interview only to be rejected for some petty reason. I never even had my first actual non-seasonal job until 2020 when I started working in a restaurant and I only got that job because of the “”””””””””labor shortage”””””””””.
I have a huge bone to pick with capitalism but I also have a bone to pick with hiring managers too, many of who have chugged the propaganda and seem to have massive egos and get off to rejecting people for the stupidest reasons and then end up hiring the candidates who lie and flatter their egos.
Also one time I said on here that a hiring manager sucked and got a DM from some deranged hiring manager on here who had dug into some of my personal posts on here and was really trying to harm me using them.
So anyway, I have three interviews lined up for next week and I don’t plan on accepting any of them even if they give me an offer.
