So i just started a new job recently. I was working two jobs just to do more than survive. I had a day jo, and took on a short night shift with another company and it totaled about 14 hours a day. Day job found out about night shift and called me into his office to “discuss my future plans”. And I told him that I needed more money so I took on the night stuff so I could make my bills and still have money left over every week and his response was “well I was gonna give you a raise but now I’m not.” So that happened on a Wednesday, I sat with that until Friday morning and I called the night time guy and told him what day time boss said. Night time guy said “tell you what, finish your day with him and before you leave tell him to go to hell and Monday you can come with me on days, and you can do nights for extra money. I’ll give you $10hr more than him too”.
Went back to the day time boss and told him what was up, I didn’t mention how much the other guy offered just to see how much he thought I was worth. His response? “Well I’m sorry that you took it that way, but I’ll give you $1 more to stay. How does that sound?”
Anyway, I nuked that bridge. I don’t even work 40 hours a week and I make way more than what I need. Those boomer bosses can all go to hell.
