Antiwork

My old job hired an external company to do my job when I left, and they’re paying more than they would’ve paid me if they gave me a raise.

I was the detailer for a Caliber Collision shop in my area. My primary job was just that, detailing cars. However as time went on, I kept being stuck with other bullshit jobs. Taking cars (some being completely unsafe to drive) to whatever location, and rounding up trash are a couple. And when I say trash, if you’ve worked at a body shop you know how it is. Mountains and mountains of cardboard, plastic wrappings, heavy junk parts off of wrecked cars, etc. I was the ONLY person expected to manage a whole shop’s worth of trash. All of this would detract from the time I had to do my actual job I was hired for. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago and I kinda fell into an amazing opportunity at the place I now happily work, for a boatload more money. I am now gone from Caliber, but…

All of this would detract from the time I had to do my actual job I was hired for. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago and I kinda fell into an amazing opportunity at the place I now happily work, for a boatload more money. I am now gone from Caliber, but a good friend of mine is still there. They have now hired an external detailing company that charges $250 per car. Are you fucking kidding me? In 2 cars, they’re paying that company more than my whole weeks worth of pay, and I did anywhere from 2-8 cars a day, depending on time of the month. That friend I mentioned is now stuck with the bullshit jobs I had, and he’s putting in his 2 weeks soon. I feel so betrayed by caliber. You mean you couldn’t stand to give me a raise to keep me but you can pay out the ass to another company? Whatever. This just proves that that chain company you work for, they don’t give a shit about you. They don’t care whether you go or stay. Look for something better and free yourself.
