I was “promoted” but they’re withholding my raise.

I started working at a bakery about a month ago, and after about two weeks they asked if I was comfortable being a shift lead. Of course I said yes, as I know in capable of performing the job and it comes with a $1 raise. I got my paycheck yesterday and it didn't reflect my new rate, so I brought it up to my manager. He said that he would approve a raise when he thought I was able to do the job without supervision, which he didn't think I was ready for. I'm baffled. There was no discussion of a training or probationary period, he simply asked if I wanted the job and I said yes. And thus starts my search for a new job. Fuck those people.
