My workplace is not in walking distance due to my living situation but close enough to drive to. I started off great but it was a little weird. I handled interacting with customers well and placing their orders. I was the cashier, drive-thru cashier, janitor in the lobby and bathrooms, and restocker for napkins and other items in the dining room. It seemed weird but I didn't complain since it was my first job, I did have fun while doing it though. Slowly, I was getting tired of working late at night from 5:30 to 10:15. I only got 5 hours of sleep until I had to wake up to catch the bus to school.
It was to the point that I had no energy to focus on work and I started falling asleep in class. To make matters worse is that my schedule would change throughout the week. This is the time she had randomly changed my weekends to be 4 pm to 10 pm instead of 11 am to 4 pm like always. My off days would randomly change as well. I was devastated and asked my mom what to do. She hated the new schedule as well and didn't stand for it. She called my manager to change the schedule so I could get a good night's rest to function. She got told that it was permanent. My Mother's way of protesting was to have me not go to work for the weekend (Saturday and Sunday not Friday because it was my day off).
I'm 17 at the time so I can only work 4 hours a day and go to school. Recently my general manager called me today and asked why I wasn't at work. She asked me if I wanted a job and told me that I wasn't acting like I wanted one. And then proceeded to tell me that I have to come in everyday whether I like it or not. Keep in mind that my mom is my only way to work. I called my mom and told her what she had said to me and she was mad. I think she's quitting for me and is going to help me find a new job. I was ecstatic about the pay I received a few weeks ago though. I felt like I earned it.
