My wife and I both put in 40 hours a week, I make 20 dollars an hour she makes 22..I'm 41 and she's 40, we have no savings, no retirement accounts nothing..I don't own my house…
She has lifelong kidney issues that she was born with so we have hundreds of thousands of medical debt..we constantly get sent to collections and get wage garnishment notifications etc etc.
We can't buy a house because things that look like a fuckin shack cost 600k, I didn't play the game so to speak in that when I bought cars I bought them outright so I basically have no credit.
My children are adults and they are constantly moving out and coming back because no one can live on a singular 15 dollar an hour salary. My house is basically madness..
You can just never get ahead and it frankly makes me want to go live under a bridge just to get away from it. My wife is constantly saying we have to build retirement and then she gets upset when I say retirement..that'll never happen and we'll die in the climate wars before we get there.
