A few weeks ago we were at a very fancy hotel (Skavania Lodge in Stevenson, WA) with some friends. One of them decided to stay an extra night and since I didn’t have work the next day I decided, “fuck it, why not” (it was half off a night then). Next morning we wake up and find three feet of snow on the ground; not unusual, but not common for the area. We go down for breakfast and found that the breakfast area was turned into a continental buffet run by ONE PERSON. Obviously this isn’t a big deal for us, but I felt horrible for her (the person running it). This was a resort-style hotel, so normally they had some fancy-ass breakfast option. Of course I tip super well, so I go on with my day. We go back to the same place for dinner and they have a very limited menu (I didn’t care about this). We get seated and this group of 4 sits down (all of them looked like boomers or older gen x). They start snapping trying to get the waiters attention after only five minutes. We start helping them not realizing what we had done. Turns out they just wanted dessert and since they didn’t have any they left. I kid you not when the waiter apologized about the menu for the situation, they said “what situation?” Thank you for reading this far, now I will excuse myself.
