I have over 100 hours of PTO yet I’m not allowed to use any of it.

I recently made a career change and got hired in the office setting. Part of the incentive of working there is you get your benefits immediately and a certain amount of PTO hours to use as well. Because of a bad depression spell I've neglected my health and haven't been to the eye doctor or dentist in 3 years. So of course I'm ecstatic I finally have insurance. I put in a time off request (literally 1 hour) for a dentist appointment and my manager gave me a hard time about it. Saying I'm on probation so it looks bad that I'm taking time off. Probation lasts for 6 months at this company. She told me I can go during my lunch but to be back within the hour. I brought up the benefits policy and she said I technically can go but it gives a bad impression. She wouldn't…
