As the title says been working on this field for 10+ years. It was great in the beginning making parts for spacecraft and satellites and military projects that's are federally protected to not disclose them and such.
Anyways some of our clients are assholes namely government shit that requires 100%inspection under 20x magnification. So my company says I need to inspect and perfect the parts under 30x for these and if they aren't perfect I have to redo them and if I bring when out of spec it's my fault. Now just to let you know 99% of the specs are +/-.0005 inches… hairs are .013 in comparison.
Anyways been doing this too long parts are 1-4k each I make like 500 per year plus thousands of other parts and personally make 38k a year.
Even the small businesses fuck you over. But don't worry we are a family in this together. The better you do the better we all do.
I've made the same for 3 years 34% increase in living coast and inflation so basically I am worth that much less to my company even though I nearly singlehandedly make the company hundreds of thousands to 3-4mil a year.
Fuck mom and pops they are only looking out for themselves. Wish I could get a good contract with company that takes care of their people. Machinist need love.
