A couple of months ago, I got laid off from my company after working there for almost 24 years. Having been there so long, I was making more money than many of my coworkers. The new CEO had been there for a couple of months and was making cuts by positions and money, not by any reflection of worth to the company.
The product I worked on had quite a few hiccups after I left.
After being with the company for so long, I was a bit upset about being let go. I had dinner with an old work friend last week and she told me that the company is going through all kinds of changes, not for the better. They are outsourcing a bunch of jobs and making unpleasant changes for employees, hours, work from home, change of commission for Sales and such.
I'm actually glad that I got out when I did. It made leaving easier. I'm looking into contracting work and I'm starting an online business. I don't think i want to work for anyone directly again, especially after reading some of the experiences in this sub.
