He asked me yesterday could I make a poster that will display everyone in the building based on photos that they had sent into the office by email. So every occupant in the building will be able to familiarize themselves with everyone by looking at the poster that's displayed in the hall when they walk into the building. I said that's fine, I know exactly how to do that sort of thing. I quickly said something along the lines of “I can do that in Photoshop”.
The following day while I was working on the poster itself(because I had to organize the photos in folders on my desktop first) he asked me in a sort of backhanded shitty way “What package will I be using to put it on?”. “It” referring to the photos and the corresponding names.
I had no idea what this question meant. Not only was it clumsily worded, the usage of the word “package” completely through me off. He got annoyed by this because I wasn't able to quickly understand what he meant. Eventually it was explained to me he meant “What software did I intend on using to create the poster with”. The word “package” in this context usually would mean something to do with a software suite such as Microsoft Office, doesn't it? As in a “software package”?
Can I ask anyone who works in an office or IT environment would you have been confused by this question? Am I in the wrong?
