Awful day at work today, part of the 200 person layoff at my company. Started at my job a month after graduating university, been there 4 years, so half of my adult life has been invested in the company.
Never trust a private company, the longer you’re at a private company, the higher risk you are for a lay-off. Slightly more pay than the new tech? You gotta go.
Just be careful out there, and always have a backup plan if you can, even ‘good’ educated positions aren’t values in out capitalist nightmare.
Edit: I know I’m lucky compared to others in this comment section. And if you’re struggling worse than me, I understand it 100%. Take care of yourselves, and no matter your age, plan ahead for this f****d system to get you bad.
